Day 13 : Bonifacio (Bunifaziu)

The touristic guide indicates a free parking lot on the outskirts of the town when you come from Sartène. We never found it. In Bonifacio, there are many charged parking area (7€ a day).

There are several tourist information offices. One of them is on the port. You'll also find many boat tours. The biggest companies have parking charges if you go on a boat trip with them.

The town overhung the port.

Some things worth seeing downtown: King Aragon's staircase for 2,50€. You can visit the Bastion for three more euros. The staircase counts 187 steps, leaving the town on sea level. The staircase is steep and narrow. Down there is a trail, dug in the limestone, which brings you to a closed cave.

The Bastion is made up of some outside fortifications. Inside, where a divine fresh breeze was blowing, there's a reenactement of the History of Bonifacio.

We went on a boat trip that lasted a hour, around Bonifacio. It is something you must do, especially to see the town from the sea. The captain made commentaries during the run.

Campsite La Rondinara three-star (Location: Suarton, Route de la Plage, 20169 BONIFACIO) at 18 km of Porto. It's quiet with a swiming pool, a bar, a restaurant and a grocery store. However, though it is quiet it is crowded, even outside school holidays.

The beach of Rondinara is 3 min away by car and 10 min on foot from the campsite. There is a charged parking area nearby the beach, but it's free for those who stay in the campsite.
